Concept of
Technology:
Technology
is a body of knowledge devoted to creating tools, processing actions and
extracting of materials. We use technology to accomplish tasks in our lives, in
brief; we describe it as products or processes to extend our abilities, and
that makes people as the most important part of any technological system.
2.
ICTs in
Education:
UNESCO
considers that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can contribute
to universal access to education, equity in education, the delivery of quality
learning and teaching, teachers’ professional development as well as improve
education management, governance and administration provided the right mix of
policies, technologies and capacities are in place.
3.
The Use of
Technology in English Teaching and Learning:
There are
teachers who use ‘cutting edge’ technology, but others still teach in the
traditional manner. For student to learn English is easier if teachers use
resources like videos, songs or other materials; however, there are many more
opportunities especially for ESL students who learn the language for more than
just fun.

The Advantages
of Information Technology in Teaching English:

Students can improve their retentive memory and learn
in their own place.

Teachers can easily explain complex instructions and
ensure students' comprehension.

Teachers are able to create interactive classes and
make the lessons more enjoyable, which could improve student attendance,
concentration through motivation.

The Impact of
Using Technology:
The effect
of technology has become huge in teaching and learning the language in addition
to the instructor's role. In other words, the role of the instructor together
with the role of the technology can lead to advanced learning results (Sharma,
2009).
